When did Festival of Sleep Day first begin?

We’re actually not entirely certain when the Festival of Sleep day first began. Its origins and history are relatively unknown.

This doesn’t change the fact that it’s definitely a much-needed holiday! We spend the entire months of November and December with a wide range of celebrations. Then throw in the fact that we stay up until midnight on New Year’s Eve, and we definitely need some extra time to sleep!

No one’s really sure why our bodies need sleep, but it’s definitely a fact that they do! Back in the time of the ancient Greeks, the day was actually divided up into “first sleep” and “second sleep.” Many cultures today include a siesta after lunchtime as a way to help break the day up.
